As of August 2, 2015, the Haywood Gleaners have already provided 9,066 pounds of fresh produce to the food insecure in our county. And we haven’t actually started the big gleans yet! Stay tuned and watch out for more glean notification emails . . . and please remember, some gleans are with a 1-3 day notice so we especially thank all those who can swing into action with a very short heads up!
Produce includes: cucumbers, yellow squash, lettuce, green beans, zucchini, blackberries, potatoes and cabbage
Potatoes/Cabbage “planned glean” – delivered to Lake Junaluska by SoSA
Yellow Squash “planned glean” – grown and gleaned by Boy Scout Troop 326
Cucumber “planned glean” – already picked and boxed – whew!
Blackberry glean – small but wonderfully sweet
